It´s an important time for art in Marbella. This coming June Marbella will hold the first Festival International Arte Marbella, FIAM. An occasion for artists of all around the Costa del Sol to show their talent and have a closer contact with the citizens.
Houses of Art Marbella wants to get involved in the Festival, promote artists and share their enthusiasm for art by holding a
                                               Young Artists Contest.
 Artists between 16 and 30 are invited to take part in the Contest. The selected candidates will exhibited at FIAM in the pavilion of Houses of Art. The artworks will be judged by the public and by a jury of professionals of the art world.     The winner will have the honour to exhibit at the prestigious gallery Houses of Art Marbella in the Marbella Club Hotel.
Artists that would like to participate will have to submit their CV and a maximum of four high resolution pictures of their artworks to contest@housesofart.com before the 15th of May. The selected works will be announced before the 22nd of May and must be sent to Gallery Houses of Art Marbella, Marbella Club Hotel, Blv. Principe Alfonso von Hohenlohe  29600 Marbella before June the 1st.

It must have something to do with our ubiquitous abandoned buildings that young people from Marbella and surrounding ares find so enticing. Most of the best art is well hidden--inside--where the artist can't get caught and can take their time. Occasionally, the Ayuntamiento draws them out with competitions in various places. The last one was the skatepark in San Pedro and earlier this year they were painting in "El Placio de Congreso." Illusive as they are, I've managed to get a few photos with links where you can see this raw young talent

Their websites are usually on social networking sites, which are a bit confusing to navigate, so spend some time and hunt around. You may be astonished at what you find. Perhaps the next Picasso.
